The Bullets beat the Ballers 74-64 in a game that featured runs throughout the first 30 minutes of the game, until one final run led to the final outcome. The Bullets featured a new backcourt and they made an impact right away, with their shooting guard knocking down a trio of three pointers to race out to a 9-0 lead. GDB responded with an 18-7 run to take the lead and the teams battled back and forth until halftime, where the Bullets took a 37-33 lead.
After the half, the Bullets started quickly again to take a ten point lead (46-36). The Ballers tried to fight back with balanced scoring featuring Ed Reddick, Danny Abatemarco, Dave Ben and James Chappell all in double figures. They repeatedly cut the lead to six points, but a 12-3 run created a lead that proved too large to overcome as the Bullets kept the Ballers at bay by at least 10 points the rest of the way.
While the Ballers are scoring at a greater clip this year, scoring is up across the fall session and a return to defense is going to be needed if the Ballers are going to find their way back to the playoffs. Next week will feature a de facto playoff game against the rival Durangos. A loss would likely spell doom for the Ballers and lead to their first instance of missing out on playoff qualification.
