When the brackets were announced for the 2019 Winter Session, the #6 seed Green Dot Ballers counted themselves fortunate to make the field, however their sights quickly turned to becoming the first team to win consecutive titles in more than 12 years. The first team standing in the way of that goal was #3 seed Alfred Street Church (ASC). ASC had won a tightly contested game in Week 3 that sent the Ballers to a 1-2 record and dug them a very deep hole to climb out of for playoff contention. When the brackets were published the Ballers saw the chance to make amends for that early loss.
The Ballers could not consistently find the range early going just 4-12 from the field and including 1-6 from 3PT and found themselves down 18-9 at the 10:30 mark of the first half. However the seal would be broken with a hustle play by Ryan Demagistris. He snuck into the lane and made a tough put back to start the Ballers on a hot streak from the field that would see them hit 10 of their next 16 shots including 2 three pointers. When Dave Ben found Mike Reamy with a pinpoint pass for a basket right at the buzzer, GDB had surged forward with 27-13 run to end the half up by 5 at 36-31. Chris Miller featured prominently in the run, hitting 4 shots on his way to 11 first half points.

ASC found no answers at halftime, as the Ballers came out firing, hitting 10 of their next 14 shots, including 3 of 4 from distance. By the time ASC could figure out what hit them they were staring at an 18 point deficit with 4 minutes to play. On a night that saw the Green Dot Ballers score a season high 69 points, everyone scored and 4 players ended up in double figures. That scoring outburst, combined with the defensive exploits of Ed Reddick shutting down ASC's leading scorer, had the Ballers on the way to the semifinals.
Next up on the GDB revenge tour will be #2 Seed Self-Check. The Ballers will look to right the wrongs of the regular season, having lost a close game in Week 6 when they missed 12 of the 20 free throw attempts in a game that went down to the final possession.
