Game Summary

Green Dot Ballers and Joy Boys play another tightly contested game that goes to double OT. Runs from both teams seemed to grab control, but neither could deliver the knockout punch. The game went to OT where Green Dot held the ball with a one point lead and 20 seconds left, but turned it over and after a controversial foul call on a potential game winning block by Tony Wroblicky, the Joy Boys split free throws the game went to a second OT. The Joy Boys took a 52-50 lead, but then were assessed at technical foul when they called a timeout when they had already used them all. Unfortunately, the Ballers split the FTs and a subsequent basket by Joy Boys grabbed control and the eventual win 55-51.

Headlines

Game of Runs - As frequently happens in this rivalry, there are major swings of momenutm, technical fouls (usually on the Joy Boys) and games that come down to the wire. This one was another classic. The Boys started out of the gates on a 17-9 run. The Ballers then responded with a 23-6 run and extended it another 6 points into the first three minutes of the second half. But Joy Boys chipped away with a 21-4 segment that setup the final minutes and multiple overtimes.

Oh captain, my captain - GDB Captain Chris Larson always finds a spark against the long time rivals and this game was no exception. The Ballers long time leader delivered with a pair of three points, a season high 8 points and three assists.

OT usually good to GDB - Over the years, the Ballers have fared well in overtime. This one had the chance to go the good way again, but Ballers couldn't seal the deal. The loss dropped them to 9-4-1 all time, including 2-1 vs Joy Boys.

MVP

Cam Wade - Another leading scoring performance in this game where points were at a premium.
