Game Summary
The script is different each time, but the movie almost always delivers a classic, this time was no different. Behind big shots from their backcourt, the Green Dot Ballers pulled out a 60-58 overtime victory against the Joy Boys. A back and forth first half ended with the Ballers holding a slim margin at 25-23. GDB once again had to weather a second half drought, scoring just two points in the first 8 min, as the Boys went on a 12-2 run. But down two in the final 10 seconds, Cam Wade hit the big shot to send it to OT. He then added a three pointer that set the stage for Chris Larson to cash in a three of his own to bring the Ballers all the way back for the win.
Headlines
Saving the best for last - Ballers captain Chris Larson had gone scoreless throughout the contest and in fact, was the only Baller that had yet to score. However, when overtime came and the game was on the line, he was ready to strike. Tony Wroblicky found himself deep under the basket, but spied a wide open Larson on the wing and hit him with a perfect pass that allowed him to cash in the game winner.
Mike Reamy Assists - The Ballers offense has been high on the assist percentage this year, with nearly 75% of baskets being assisted. In week 1, the only Baller without an assist was resident sharp shooter Mike Reamy. He more than made up for it this week, with a career high and team leading 5 assists, which didn't count the body language he used to help guide the game winner into the basket, as Fat Joe would say - LEAN BACK!!
Balancing Act - Green Dot once again had all Ballers score during the game, again featuring three players in double figures. This time Cam Wade (game high 20pts) and Will Harris, joined holdover Tony Wroblicky to lead the way in scoring.
Throw it down big fella - Long time pivot man Will Harris III has always talked about getting the chance to dunk in a game and wondered aloud if it would ever happen. This night gave the perfect opportunity, early in the game on a fast break, the Rock was able to throw it down with authority! He should have got the AND 1!
MVP
Cam Wade - After a slow start in his first game back last week, Cam made up for lost time with a virtuoso performance. Leading scorer in the game, 4 3FGs and the game tying shot with less than 10 seconds left to send it to overtime. M-V-P!
