During my junior year, our game at Worcester State was featured on the local television station. Wasn't my best game, but we did post a win over our rivals just up I-290. Heather likes to give me grief by telling the story about how I turned around the game by motivating our best player. I wish it was because of something good I did, but unfortunately he was pissed at how poorly I was playing.
We were in a back and forth game and we held a slim 44-41 lead early in the second half. At about the 50 min mark of the video, I have the worst back to back plays of my college career. First I get my pocket picked, which RARELY ever happened, maybe once a year. I was usually the one doing the pickpocketing. Thankfully for me, the camera missed the actual steal, and the guy misses the layup, but they get a three to tie the game on the ensuing inbounds. Then on the next play, I drive too far and turn it over again and that leads to another basket. Billy Collins, who was our best player and ended his career as the all time leading scorer at Nichols with over 2,000 points, gets pissed at me and proceeds to bail us out (and me too, of course) by scorching the nets for three three pointers over the next few minutes to settle us down and get control of the game back. The first shot was clearly a, "Damnit Larson, I will just dribble the ball down and score for myself" type of shot. But at least he got it rollin' after that!!! Haha.
